Had to return to the hospital after running a fever and a high white count.  All is well, now and I'm home.  I'[ve had experience with some acites in the past, but not like this!   70 pounds of excess fluid in my abdomen and legs and feet!!!!   Talk about being uncomfortable!  Liver is doing great but this extra little side trip  . . . . . . where did this come from.  Anyone else experience this?     Any tips or tricks to help with relief or anyone who can commisserate with me?  Again, I remain patience, patience, patience.

I love the new lease on life, though!

I gained about 30 pound of fluid 3 weeks after my pancreas transplant. They gave me a water pill and with in a week I lost all of the fluid and then some from all my anti rejection.

I have a friend who had that exact same thing! And for him it was the cause of his medicine! He went to the doctors and once they fixed his meds - he was fine! Good luck!

Thanks, Bobbiejo for sharing your experience.  I don't feel so alone and as helpless.  I am getting stronger each day and therefor can do a bit more walking each day before my feet swell too much. I'm hoping some of the things they tweaked with meds and such will help with the fluid.

Again, thanks for your response.

I am sorry that you gained so much water weight. I once had a visit to a hospital where I suppose from the extra fluids I was getting, I gained about 20-30 lbs. of extra water weight. What was worst about it was that the extra fluid did not distribute itself evenly. I actually could have used the extra weight as I am underweight, but because of how it settled on me it was uncomfortable and of course it was not true weight. My doctors did not give me anything for it, and I had to just deal with it and let it slowly go away with time. However, I did have a talk with my doctor regarding the possibility of this happening again. They worked on how much fluid they would give me at future visits to the hospital, and I started to have less problems with the fluid gain, certainly not gaining as much as the above mentioned time again. I especially feel for you since your fluid gain is so much worse than mine was. I hope that your doctors can help you find a way to treat it. You will be in my thoughts and prayers. Many hugs.
