The Kidney Medicare Drugs Awareness and Education Initiative

The Kidney Medicare Drugs Awareness and Education Initiative has recently updated its Compare Drug Plans packet for 2009. The current version of the packet is available on http://www.kidneydrugcoverage.org/choose.htm and was updated on November 14, 2008. This packet includes a FAQ on how drugs and plans were chosen, search tips, and two charts that allow you to search for what drugs a specific plan covers (by plan) and what plans cover a specific drug (by drug).
We have also uploaded a chart that lets you see how coverage for specific drugs has changed from year to year. The color green means that more plans cover that specific drug this month compared with the previous year. The color red means fewer plans cover that specific drug this year. No color means there was no change in the number of plans covering that specific drug from last year.
We hope that the updated packet and month-to-month comparison will save you time when educating yourself or patients about Medicare drug coverage for 2009.
Look for other labor-saving tools, educational materials for patients and professionals, resources or links, and much more on www.kidneydrugcoverage.org. Links to internal pages in the site are in bold black type. An updated FAQ is will be available later this week.
