Teresa Menk is on her way to get a new pancreas!
Hi All,
Teresa is on her way to Minneapolis to receive a pancreas. She is expected to go into surgery around 11PM tonight and the surgery will last approximately 6 hours.
After the surgery, she will be staying in an ICU unit for transplant patients. Due to the fact that her immune system will be quite compromised, she can not accept any flowers, cards or any other gifts at this time. So, please send her good energy and you prayers accordingly.
You can also send Teresa your good wishes via postings on the CaringBridge.org website, or the TransplantCafe.com website or via Teresa's facebook site. (please search for Teresa Menk to locate her entries on each of the websites noted.)
Teresa does have a laptop with her. So, once she is up to it she will be posting responses to the sites that are listed above.

I will have to wait for the next one. but I try to joke and think of it as (it wasn't the one for me) I tell people with a smile that next time we have to have our prayers First: that its on the plane 2nd: come me.
If it was for dumb luck I would have no luck at all. (lol)

I am so sorry to hear this. I have never heard of an organ being lost before. I hope that you will not have to wait too much longer for another pancreas. I will be sure to continue to keep you in my prayers. Just try not to let this get you down too much. I had two dry runs before I got my transplant which has been such a gift and blessing for me. May you soon be blessed with a pancreas that will be the best one for you. Many hugs.

Are you serious? They really lost it. What a bummer!
Talk about losing things that are important.
Does that mean that you'll have to wait till a one is available or do you go when they find it?

well guess what. My pancreas was NOT on the plane its been lost. They have to check with georgia and see what they did and why it didn't make the fliight and why they didn't call them. so I have had my first dry run. They said this is the first time its been lost. Now I wait again.

I truly hope that your surgery goes well and that you will recover swiftly. I am truly happy that you will be getting a new pancreas. I will be sure to keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I got a pancreas as a part of my multivisceral transplant I had about three and a half years ago. I feel so grateful for this gift and that you too will soon be receiving your new chance at life. I know that the recovery can sometimes be tough, but just know that you will have many cheering you on and wishing only the best for you. May God bless you.
