I'm really not sure how this 'blog' thing works. Do I continue from my original post or start anew?
Anyway, here's some more about my life at the moment. ( I'm in Thailand for major dental work)
Last week I returned to Bangkok for yet another dental appointment. Although I normally enjoy the city, with the recent overwhelming news about Japan on people's minds, overwhelming images embedded in our brains, I fell into darkness.
From sweltering heat, to a sudden down pour and cold greyness, cold for Thailand, the crowds all looked joyless.
After the dentist gave me a two week reprieve, we boarded a bus for Ayutthaya, the ancient capital of Siam, sacked by the Burmese in the mid-1700s.
Being here revived my spirits with its lovely ruins in park like settings, temples, rivers and old blooming trees scattering the ground with blossoms and the air with fragrance.
And it is mango season. My favorite, mango with sticky rice and coconut cream, is for sale everywhere.
Despite my improved outlook, the horror of recent events in Japan is everpresent, as it should be.
The situation reminds me how fortunate we are for our lives and how we must continue to do for others as we are all here together sharing this planet.
My prayes, chants, thoughts sent to the universe, are always the same, for health, contentment, world peace, freedom from suffering, it's the only thing I know to do.
