They say if you hit 27 meld and higher you stand a good chance of receiving the gift. I reached 27 meld with the help of cancerous lesions on my liver that were reduced to below 5 cm. I'm almost 2 months out from "T day" and feeling a little bit better each day.

Hi Rachael,

Hang in there, I got my transplant in June 2009, just 3 months after I got my false alarm cal, shook me up, but what a relieve, just stay positive, think positive and if possible try and stay as fit as possible! my prayers are with you!

Got my first call on friday everyone...but it was a false alarm. So the next one can't be too far away!

There was no "score" when I was waiting...was just given a beeper and told to wait....this was in 1991 though

I hope that you will not have to wait much longer. I do not think that my transplant doctors ever told me what my MELD score was but just that I was at the top of the list from the beginning due to liver damage from having to use TPN as my sole nutrition source because of a deteriorating digestive system. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Best of wishes.

if i remember right my husband s meld score was like 26 when he got his liver...
