I was just reading over some of the posts today. I"m glad I did. My daughter Rebekah is now currently taking .25 mg of zoloft. Over the course of last couple of months she was really depressed. In one months time I had to take her to the hospital because she was sick. Vomitting, diaherra, & chest pains from anxiety. The transplant cordinator & her doctor decided that she should be put on meds. They also said she should seek counseling for post traumatic stress syndrome. I will be taking her next week to a psychiatrist to get further help. I really believe that this will help her a lot. She has already made improvements by taking the new med. It's ok to get additional help if needed. People in the "outside" world have no idea how this effects you.
Because my daughter went through cancer & chemotherapy prior to transplant. She has been dealing with stress for over four yrs. I do believe a lot of these meds she takes has a long lasting effect on her both emotionally & physically.
She went for a checkup today & is doing well. They want her to take a womens multivitamin in addition to calcium pills for a total of 1200 mg. a day. This will help strenghten her bones more. Her leg is still a little fragile from bone surgery almost a yrs ago. Her bone doctor said it doesn't help her healing when she's on immune supressed drugs.
She has been so blessed with her new heart & is extremely thankful to the donor family. This is her "normal" life now. She is so thankful for a second chance at life not once but twice in 2 yrs.
