Who will your transplant surgeon be? Just curious because my transplant surgeon was originally from Toronto. He came to Cleveland, OH and within the last 8 years went back to Toronto and is doing transplants there now.

so true sara he gets me up and going everyday and i hope to continue on our routine before surgery and then ride bikes with him after!!! I don't want him to see me in hospital right after but once i am able...the unfortunate part of this is his father...who has caused great grief and has no compassion whatsover towards this wants to go to court over this....there is no way i am leaving him behind!!! especially since he only goes with him every second weekend now....i am in for a battle....and really hope a judge has more sense and compassion than him!!!

Hi Mel, I too noticed not many people on here have children. They add a whole new set of risk factors (germs anyone??), but they also gave me a reason to keep going when just for me wasn't enough. Can't wait to chat with you.

Hi Mel- my daughter is 17 now and a senior in high school. We lived near my transplant center so moving wasn't an issue. But I would not leave your child behind. Every minute is precious. I did not let my daughter see me in the ICU but she did visit me in the hospital once I was in the step-down unit. She told us when the time was right before she was 2 and asked if Mommy was sick.. Now she doesn't remember my being sick or on oxygen. She does hate the smell of hospital soap, though, and always notices when I have gone to clinic. I am very close to my daughter. She is the light of my life and the light of her Father's life.

Hey...i had my double lungs 3 years ago! Life before that was horrible, painful, and too much suffering. I waited a year before I was allowed to travel and went through Europe. the pictures u have seen recently were from my holiday on the cruise this April. But I also did the travelling thing as mentioned after a year for 2 months on my own..5 countries - 14 cities!! I had the most amazing time, and never got ill or picked up any bugs....I live my life now - free from living in a bubble. I am very positive too! How long have u been waiting for? what illness do u have? x
