I had my Small Bowel Transplant at The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center/Thomas E. Starzl Small Bowel Transplant Institue on 5/15/07. Pre and Post transplant teams were and are exceptional. Very gifted individuals.
Which Transplant Medication(s) Do You Take?
The most important meds are Cortef (Hydrocortisone) - steroid and Prograf - anti rejection med along with 14 other meds and supplements.
What Do You Do For a Living? What Are Your Passions, Hobbies, Passtimes, Dreams and Goals for the Future?
I own a bagel bakery/gourmet deli in Toms River, NJ. I love what I do. My passion now is to get the word out about donor awareness. I have involved myself in speaking to groups and individuals. I also would love to see grandchildren in my life. That is my biggest dream.
About Me: Please use this space to tell the community about you and your unique experience with transplantation:
I had my small bowel transplant 5/15/07. This was necessary due to scar tissue forming around my bowel and cutting off the blood supply. I was a very healthy and beautiful 50+ woman before my transplant. I am now a healthy and beautiful 59 yr. old woman with a new body inside and out. Medication changed my shape, stamina and outlook on life. Important to me now is to Live Life to the Fullest.
