About Me: Please use this space to tell the community about yourself and your unique experience with transplantation:
In the late 1960's, I was a liver researcher working at NY Medical College and Flower and Fifth Avenue Hospitals under an NIH grant. Our program was established to help develop the body of knowledge on the liver that could one day help make liver transplantation possible. It is believed I became ill from a Norwegian brown rat virus that crossed vectors and infected me. I used to perform liver perfusion surgical procedures on these animals, college blood samples from a surgically implanted cannula and then analyze the blood chemistry.

Neil, Thank you for sending the article from the NYTimes. It gives us hope. I have genotype 1 and have been through 2 treatments with Interferon, Riboviron, and Pegysis.
Now I have one kidney and am on anti-rejection meds + many more. I don't know if they would allow me to try the treatment, or if I could even handle the side effects now. It was a very interesting article. Blessings, Lili

Neil,
Thank you for the double compliment. Yes, she is beautiful! But no, she's my granddaughter not my daughter. Her Mother is just as beautiful. To life!

Neil, good to hear from you! I'm SO proud of you and all your amazing art and photography accomplishments. You are awesme and obviously very gifted :) Yes, i am excited for my photo shoot coming up. When I come out your way we will definitely have to do some shots! I actually don't have a video of myself. I will see if someone can tape my next talk coming up this week. It would be so amazing if an organization or group would fly me out to speak about my story and transplant cafe. I want to go educate hospitals, support groups and most of all bring awareness to everyone by motivating and inspiring them. I can only hope to make it out your way sometime soon! Please let me know of any opportunities and spread the word to people. Keep doing your beautiful art :) I've been keeping busy doing my own art, cooking and gearing up for the transplant games! Are your going to be coming this year? Take care and keep in touch... hugs!

Hey Neil, just wanted to thank you for all your help. I truly appreciate it :) Thought I would update you... I have done about 5 talks now to various groups, colleges and buddy day at the secretary of state. I was just a semi finalist in the NKF art contest too, I was super excited! I didn't win, but that's ok. I am also now the head coordinator of TRIO's new youth circle :) Have been making a lot of great connections lately. I have a photo shoot coming up in a few weeks too, so I'll have to show you a few pics if you want. I love looking at your photography, its amazing! I hope all is well with you. Take care and thanks for all your encouragement :)

I like the idea - but who is going to organzie it? Lots of people have ideas but no one volunteers to take the lead - are you up for it? Find a place, figure out a menu or make it everyone bring stuff we supply the hotdogs and hamburgers. Be creative.

Hi Neil! I will actually be near Georgetown on Wednesday (April 1) and was going to stop by to see your exhibit (your photography IS amazing!) Will the photographs be up by then? I will check it out whether I hear back or not, but if there is a chance you'll be there setting up or something it would be great to meet you! Sorry so last minute! If i don't get to see it on Wednesday I will try my hardest to get back later in the month! Hope all is well

Hi Neil,
It was so nice to hear from you. I just celebrated my 10th insulin free year this past February and my husband made me a wonderful party. I joined this sight last month and really need to pay attention on how to use it. Take care and I hope to see you soon.
