About Me: Please use this space to tell the community about yourself and your unique experience with transplantation:
I am a 14 year kidney/pancreas transplant patient. My life has changed so much since my transplant. Within 3 months of my transplant I was back to work, back to the gym, enjoying getting back to a pretty normal routine life , and raising my son who is now 22 years old, and doing quite well on his own.
I researched my donor through my transplant coordinator. In my first letter, which I had been working on since my transplant. I wrote to whomever it may concern. How this person saved my life, and if there was any way to put into words how I could ever thank them. I word profit from making up the;"Perfect Word". I also said in the letter how sick I was, and how dailysis treatments were taking a toll on my body, and now I can look at life differently since my transplant, and how much better I feel, and can finally see tommorrow. I also said in the letter, how I can now hopefully look forward to watching my son graduate, and walk across the stage. Something I really couldn't really invision before. In the letter, I stated how I would like to meet, correspond, or phone to give my thanks. I also stated to take their time, and I respected the time to heel and griving process. After about a year, I recieved a letter from a women who said she was contacted, and told her daughter save a life, and the recipient wanted to correspond with her. The ladies name was Sandra, and she was from Washington state. She had a daughter Kelly who died of a brain aneurism and was an organ donor. She was only 27 year old, and had a 1 year old daughter named Cassandra at the time of her death. Sandra said she had lost her husband, Kelly's dad about a year before Kelly's death. So she had been through so much, and that she was sorry it took so long to correspond with me. We kept in touch with letters over the years, until she moved to Oregon about 4 years ago. I am still hoping to hear from her again someday? Their whole family are always in my thoughts and prayers.

What is Your Favorite Quote(s)?
All your bad days should be good. All your good days GREAT !!! Life is a never ending hurdle race. Sometimes you find yourself in the lead, sometimes in the middle of the pack, and somedays at the end. Sometimes you fall over a hurdle, but pick yourself up, brush yourself off, and get back running to get to the front again.

I still think of my donor Kelly who has passed. Her family, Sandra her mother, and her daughter Cassandra who is about 15 now. My gradatude, thoughts,… Continue

Taking advantage of this unusual warm weather..............

With this unusual warm weather here in Western Maryland this week. With tempatures in the 70's, I was able to get out early, and get some track work in. I also got some throwing, and jumping in at the local high school. But it's March, and the cold and wind is on it's way the rest of the week and the weekend. Hopefully, this will help me with my performance this August at the World Transplant games? Have a great and safe day! Mike
