Hi, Linda,
When my husband had his liver transplant, they put an excessive amount of prograf into his liver. It made in his mind what the Neurologist at Mayo Clinic called brain soup. It really affected the chemical balance of his brain. It took a while for it to level off, and he also lost a great amount of weight. I would not be too concerned about it, but I definitely would keep an eye on it. My husband passed away in January, 2 years and a month after his transplant. His liver functions were good, but the liver was not detoxifying his system and died as if he had taken an overdose of pain medication, althought the coroner's report said that he did not have a lethal dose of his medication in his system. He was hospitalized a few times before he died and they had to take away every medication that he was on except for the prograf and the cellcept. I have found through this that they do a good job, but you have to keep an eye on them and stay on top of it. I hope this helps you. I do not like to discuss it much. It seems to be disturbing to those who hear about it, even though it must be a rare occurance and affects very few.

Linda - Hi! I read your message about caring for your husband. You are absolutely normal! Holy cow...there are some similarities there with my husband too. He's got his ups and downs...but there have been more downs lately than ups. It's really hard, and to have family nearby and not helping - welll that really does add to the weight of the world on your shoulders. I have recently felt like I was doing everything too, and getting nothing but crankiness and alonenees in return. It's hard to do everything - but you will do it, and all will be fine (eventually). Hang in there. We are never given more than we can handle. Even if it feels that way sometimes. Vent any time you need to! We're all here for you!

I know it's hard to watch someone go through that, so if you ever need to vent or talk to someone I'm definitely here for ya :) I truly hope your husband recieves his gift soon. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! Take care..
