What's the deal with drinking grapefruit juice and liver transplants?

We heard from our Donor family exactly 2 yrs and 6 mths ot the date of his transplant..

The research my husband did on Prograf is that it can drive up Potassium, but it is also not kidney friendly. He talked to our Doctors about switching her to Rapamune and we notice a distinct difference in her focus and attention. She seemed mor let…

I am 63 years young, I am married, i live in houston, tx.
Between my wife and i , we have 8 grown childern, 12 grandchildren. who all live close by.
I am a carpenter, and i love the outdoors.

I am so very thankful to our donor family , who we have not met, but hope to one day.

You're 100% right, Mom's are totally the best! And her kidney is doing wonders in my body :) The bond has grown :)

Sorry it's taken forever to get back to your post...I should have replied right away when I got your message, but didn't...and hence forgot to. Oops!

Wanted to know how your husband is doing and did you end up going for the tests to see if you can donate? Receiving the gift of life was incredible, but it's truly the donors who need to be celebrated. And if you do donate, you're going a totally incredible thing!

My husband Rick was referred to Texas Liver center in Houston by his primary Doctor in Oklahoma. We were very impressed with the quality of care from Houston, Texas. We fly there every 3 months for follow up appoitments.

Julian, I saw your post in the liver group and was just wondering how your husband's creatine level is doing? I've been on rapamune for about 2 years now. They switched to that because cellcept made my white count bottom out. My labs have been great!Hope all is good with you both you :)

I go back in on June 1 to see Dr. Suki. Like any transplant patient, I have my share of troubles but he keeps me straight.

Congrats! I have been gone for 6 weeks with limited internet access, sorry for the delay! How is everyone doing? I'd like to hear a "normal" experience! My xplant hosp. has reunion every year for all xplants. I can't wait to go!
