“What you call a hero, I call just doing my job”
I have a feeling that when I finally meet my donor in the afterlife, the above is what I will hear. I feel the same way by simply registering to become an organ donor. But, to me, here, now and forever, my donor is my HERO!! I will be forever eternally grateful. …

“The hero is commonly the simplest and obscurest of men”
This is very true. Organ donation works because of all common folks, like you and me, that register to become donors. We aren’t well-known, we aren’t rich, we have never had our “15 Minutes of fame”. We are simple people who care about life.

“We are the hero of our own story.”
While this may be true for many people, it’s not necessarily true in my case. As a heart transplant recipient, my TRUE hero is my donor. This person and his or her family did the most unselfish thing a person could do ……. he or she gave me life as their’s came to an end. There is nothing more heroic in my life than…

“The hero is one who kindles a great light in the world, who sets up blazing torches in the dark streets of life for men to see by.”
This is what an organ donor does …… lights the way for those on a long and often dark journey and not only gives hope, but he or she ultimately gives life. Organ donors are true heroes!

Hi Don,
My photo of boat house row was taken from the service road below I-76, accessed by making a right off the circle immediately passing the Museum of Art, or via long walk from in front of the boathouses. Best wishes, Neil Willens

Just a little note to let you know that I always enjoy your thought provoking quotes. They make so much sence and find them so interesting. Keep'em coming.
Hugs and love, Karen
Thanks Don :) I'm glad you got to read my story! That is so awesome of you to donate to the guest house. My family had to stay there for a month while I was going through my transplant ordeal. Keep volunteering, you are truly making an impact! I still remember paul who came in to visit me after my liver transplant. I'm going to the CC April 6 for my five year appt. I can't believe it's been that long!
Continued health and happiness to you :)
