Hospitals honored for organ donations

Out of death comes life.

That was the message two people gave Wednesday at the state Capitol rotunda.

They gave the message to a group assembled at the Capitol to honor six area hospitals for raising organ donation rates in their facilities -- Intermountain Healthcare, LDS Hospital, Primary Children's Medical Center, McKay-Dee Hospital Center in Ogden, University Hospital and Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. The national donation rate is 67 percent, while the six hospitals had a 82 percent… Continue

Cardiac Cooperative Transplants 1,000th Heart
Apr 15, 2008 by Elizabeth Ziegler

(KCPW News) The UTAH Cardiac Transplant Program reached a milestone recently by performing 1,000 successful heart transplants. The unique collaboration between four Salt Lake-region hospitals works more efficiently and provides better care than if each hospital had developed competing heart transplant programs, says Dr. Dale Renlund, the program's director.

"I think it would have been squabbling among competing pro… Continue

Back to you, Damon. Often, in the first year post, I kept reminding myself that the great thing is that I'm still here to complain. LOL. Often, now, when I get together with old friends or acquaintances, they'll say: It's good to see you...my response is "It's nice being seen." They know, we laugh, and it's good. BTW, I've posted a few photos I've taken of boat house row and city hall in Phila on my page, so if you've patience with the slide show, you might enjoy this. I've family on Main Line and Lower Merion and visit every few months. Regards,
Neil

Hi Damon,
I saw in your post that you take "4000 Cellcept" and assume this is 4000mg, or 4 grams daily, and have gastro-intestinal issues. From what I've read of the drug, which I was on for 1 year (post liver tx), the recommended dosing is 3 grams daily for kidney, heart and liver transplant patients. You may wish to double check dosing or get second opinion. Cellcept, I recall, was a major cause of diarrhea.
Best wishes,
Neil
