This is great for organ donation awareness, an olympic medalist promoting such an important life saving decision. I had a double-lung transplant in 2002 and am in training for swimming for the US transplant olympics in 2010. I'd like to go next year to Australia for the World transplant olympics if I can get enough sponsors and enough training in by then. I just started training with a coach so I only have 10 months but it's possible. I want to win a medal for my donor family in honor of my 13-year old donor. Thanks for joining and supporting our cause!! Peace & Love, Amy

Dear Chris,

As you know, almost 100,000 patients are waiting for an organ today and one of them, or one who was listed and then delisted due to becoming to sick, dies every hour. Clearly, altruism is failing to meet the demand for organs and failing badly.

You and I have been blessed by receiving cadaveric donations, but those above and another 500,000 on kidney dialysis but not even on the list yet are not so lucky.

I am respectfully asking if you would expand your advocacy to include the need for trial projects of new organ-donor policies as recommended by the Past President of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, Dr. Matas, on incentivizing organ donation and by many others for Presumed Consent.

You may view the many eminent co-signers of our template letter regarding these needed new policies at http://fairfoundation.org/organdonation/contactcongressfororgandonation.htm. We need strong people like you to stand up and state to UNOS that what we are doing (altruism and organ-donor Collaboratives) is failing and that we must at least test these new policies in a State, which, we believe in the case of incentivizing OD if applied nationally would eliminate the waiting list within 5-10 years as it did in Iran.

Thank you for your consideration of this respectful request.

I'm on Cellcept (brand name from Roche) for SLE. Works great for joint pain, but I really can't afford the medicine. Aetna makes me pay a 1/3rd copay, and that is near $564/mo. for the therapeutic dosage (3000mg/day). No one can help, not even Roche…
