Ok, I'm going to get this started.... How long before you guys starting to get feeling back from the incision? I have about a 3"x3" spot that has zero feeing. I know that some of it should come back, but not necessarily all of it. Wondering what you guys experienced???

HEY...JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF YOU KNOW IF I CAN STILL POSSIBLY BE A LIVER DONOR IF I HAVE HAD PAST C-SECTIONS....I HAVE A RELITIVE WHO NEEDS A TRANSPLANT AND I AM NOT SURE IF I SHOULD EVEN VOLUNTEER IF I KNOW I CANT EVEN TRY BECAUSE OF THE C-SECTIONS.......

Hi, Crystal. Yes, you should be able to donate despite the C-sections. But there are so many variables that make a person able or unable to donate, so the best thing to do is tell your relative that you'll volunteer to "get worked up," which means to find out if you CAN donate. The decision about whether you WILL donate can come after you know whether you can.

Let us know if we can help answer more questions! It's awesome that you're even considering it.

Hey Tara,

I gave my brother part of my liver 18 months ago and I still have a "dead-zone" right below my incision. Not sure it's ever coming back but it bothers me less and less as time goes on.

Hey, Tara! I heard from Toweya that you're doing well -- so glad to hear it. I didn't experience any loss of feeling -- sounds like I got lucky maybe? I've heard from several other people via my blog that they lost feeling in their incision area. Now that Kelly mentions it, I've heard this from other Moms who've had C-sections too.

I donated a kidney almost 11 years ago. i still have alot of nerve pain on my side and my left hip still has very little feeling in it. I have found over the years the nerve pain is alot more tolerable if I apply pressure and I have gotten use to the lack of feeling on my hip. But everytime I see my daughter it makes it all worth while and I would do it again in a heart beat.

i almost hate to respond to this. I donated 14 years ago and the area below my incision is still numb. I got a tatoo over the scar last year and it was painless below the scar.... I ended up with some other nerve damage and still have some pain, so the numb thing is no big deal. It took me a while to get used to it...i don't really pay any attention to it anymore...and it was so worth it.

Wow, you guys are not feeling pain over you scars.Anyway am not surprised about about that, cos I know that happens.Am in the health profession so believe me, when I say I know.My collegues were quite surpised I knew the risks involved and still donated a kidney to my brother. My scars used to hurt like heal, but now I feel over stimulation at the area. Its definitely not numb. Its more like paraeasthesia especially when I touch it.Am now 1 year post transplant.Anyway, that´s what I got for doing something I still think was worth all the pain.

My nerves were cut on the right side from the edge of the rib cage to the right lower quadrant and after a year is still numb. I believe it has to do with pain management and acceptance of the new organ but I'm not positive. Good Luck
