14 Days until surgery
Hello all - I am new to this site and wanted to intruduce myself. My name is Kelly I am currently counting down the days until my Liver Donation surgery which is scheduled for October 19th, 2009.
A few months ago one of the owners of the company of which I work; Lynda, told me about her brother who was sadly in the throws of liver disease. The doctors held out hope but it was evident a transplant would have to take place for Danny to survive. We spoke about their options and of Lynda testing to be a living donor for her brother as well as other living donor possibilities. Over the next few weeks Lynda began her process of testing while others tested their blood type for a match. Unfortunately due to anatomy problems Lynda was ruled out as a match. Many other family members and friends also tried but were not matches whether it be for non-blood compatibility or anatomy reasons. I knew don't ask me how but I knew I would be a perfect match and tested myself......Now almost 2 1/2 months later I have my date for surgery.
I hope this site will bring me new friends I can share my experience with and give me more information on Donors and Recipants alike
