Comment by Matthew J Litkie on June 23, 2012 at 7:28pm Within the MELD continuous disease severity scale, there are four levels. As the MELD score increases, and the patient moves up to a new level, a new waiting time clock starts. Waiting time is carried backwards but not forward. If a patient moves to a lower MELD score, the waiting time accumulated at the higher score remains. When a patient moves to a higher MELD score, the waiting time at the lower level is not carried to the new level. The clock at the new level starts at 0. (Example: Patient has a MELD score of 15 and has been at level 11-18 for 100 days. With new laboratory tests, the patient’s MELD score is 22. The patient moves to a new MELD level of 19-24. The patient’s waiting time at this new level starts at 0 days). Waiting time is only used as a tie-breaker when patients have the same MELD score.

Comment by Peter james goodman on June 22, 2012 at 2:39am Hello Susan G. my story is the same as others in our TP family.
I have followed your story with great interest, and compassion and hope for Gazz, you and you family.
Hugs to you and Gazz, if there is anything our group TP family can do to comfort you two, please let us know.
At this time I am now caring for my wife that has been fighting stage 4 lung small cell lung cancer for two years.
Her cancer has spread from her lung to her adrenal gland and then her kidneys. Monday she has an evaluation to see if they can remove two large tumors on her brain. I truly understand your situation and pain.
Hugs to you and Gazz, peace and good journey to both of you and your family! Pete and Susie

Comment by Mary V on June 21, 2012 at 10:50pm Hi Susan!
I have been following your story without comment, praying for you and Gazz. My prayers are still with you both, I received my tp just in the nick of time, just as I pray Gazz will. The best to you both.

Comment by Ramona on June 21, 2012 at 9:23pm Love, hugs, and prayers to you too, Susan.
Comment by Susan G. on June 21, 2012 at 9:19pm The past 18 months has been a roller coaster. After being listed as #1 regionally for less than 24 hours, he was then unlisted. Reasons and rationales for this are totally irrelevant at this point, it is what it is. Thursday, I brought him home so that he could be around familiar surroundings and the things that he loves. We've fought the good fight and it's time to rest.
I will keep coming in to check on all of you who have become my internet family. Thank you for being here for me when things were at their craziest. I can't express how much of a blessing all of you have been.
Love, hugs, prayers and best wishes to each and everyone of you here.

Comment by Bobbiejo Winfrey on June 21, 2012 at 4:25pm I am so very glad that Gazz has been listed. I hope he will not have to wait long. May new sources of strength and hope arise daily to help you both through this journey. I will be sure to keep you both in my thoughts and prayers. Many hugs and best of wishes.
