Does anyone cycle, swim, or run? Is anyone training for any of the US or World Games or just training period? I am currently trying to get myself back into shape. I'm thinking about using the Madison games for motivation, but I am undecided.

Let me know if you want any swimming tips or a good workout to start out with!
Hi Gary. I do all 3, sometimes together :) You too?
I am a pretty good cyclist. I raced mountain bikes before and after my transplant so I feel pretty good about getting back on track in this area (I stopped competing 5yrs ago). Running and swimming are the areas that I need to work on.

Holdol,
I good swim workout would be great! In the pool I just alternate between breast stroke and freestyle. I also surf, so that is helping me incease my stamina.

Peach,
I just started running again so I am at 10 min miles over 3 miles at best. Any tips on getting this way down?

Little Jen,
I have not done all three together, but I would like to work up to a sprint tri at some point. Again, any tips would be appreciated.
FYI...Got off my butt this morning and rode my road bike to work! I did not break a sweat since it is only 3 miles, but it will motivate me to do more.
Lol...good to hear you got off your butt and rode your bike! Every little bit counts to build up your stamina.... Did you look for a swim class/team to join? I just swim on my own and do a workout I make up.

I'd probably start you off small, like 1,000 yds? Or what r u used to swimming...just 200's switching b/t strokes?
I have an indoor pool I can walk to, but I will be getting my workout in the ocean this week. We don't have waves to surf very often so you have jump at the chance. The good news is that paddling a surf board is good practice for swimming! When I do hit the pool I will be targeting 800 meters which is a little short of your suggestion.
Sounds like we have the same strategy. My wife is training for one of those Navy Seal mud runs so I am trying to run with her. Of course she was in the shower before I returned home:)

I saw that you have run a marathon...that is awesome. I have run the half, but I don't think I like running enough to do the full. I hope you feel well enough to tackle it again!
A lot of places offer triathlon -geared swim classes. I actually started with that, at my local Y, and then joined the Masters swim team.

As for running, speedwork. You get fast by running fast. Track sessions are really good, as are fartleks.
General Update: Today I rode a short distance of 7.7 miles, but I rode flat out (the long way home from work). I think this distance will be the standard during the week, so I will concentrate on building my speed up. Once I get a new battery for the computer I can actually track my speed.

Liver Transplants

This is a group for all people who have had liver transplants. Feel free to say how long you have been a recipient and what medication you are on. Some doctors hope to have their patients off all medications, any thoughts?
