I am saddened daily to hear about patients without medical insurance because I understand the hardship they have to go through. I've seen it with my father who is needing a liver transplant and uninsured in the U.S. Not to mention there are many people in need of organs that die because of the wait. We have been very fortunate to be introduced to Medical Tourism through www.worldmedassist.com . I hope other people who are in our same situation know about medical tourism and at least consider it as an option. Our procedure here is costing approximately $60,000 vs in the U.S. where we would have had to put down $330,000 or have medical insurance to even get him on the list. My father, sister and I are in New Dehli, India today waiting for my fathers liver transplant to take place this coming Tuesday. I will be giving my father a part of my liver. If you would like to see more about the transplant you can visit our blog at http://liverletlive.blogspot.com
Be sure you and your father receive copies of your medical records, IN ENGLISH, before you return to the US. Also be sure your father is given an adequate supply of immunosuppressants. Know your rights in case of complications post-surgery. Medical tourism is very complicated and many patients underestimate this.
Yours is an amazing story. Thank you for posting the links. I hope the surgery was successful and that both you and your father are doing well. You have given the ultimate gift of life to your father. God bless you.
