So it seems we have some serious athletes from all around the country and the nice Triathlon Shirt I saw with the Donate Life and Transplant Care logo got me to thinking.

Why not create an official, or semi-official Team Transplant Cafe. We could work on bringing the various transplant organizations and drug companies into the mix as sponsors, etc... I've got a lot of races this year from some small 5k's to Half-Marathons and several hundred mile Adventure Races. Would be a lot of fun to wear a shirt/jersey loaded with sponsor logo's promoting organ donation and the huge need that is out there.

Any interest, lets discuss?

sounds great but how would you make this happen?

Getting it done isn't the difficult part, that just making phone calls, sending e-mails, etc... The hard part is trying to put people together that are interested in the concept.

I know this thread is a bit old, but its still high on my list of things I want to get done. Be it Team Transplant Cafe or another team name, I'm determined to put together a group of transplant patients who want to be physically active running road races, triathlons, bike races, adventure races, etc.

I've had dreams of jerseys/shirts competing in races all over the country loudly shouting the transplant story. In my mind I've seen a website dedicated to transplant patient health, fitness, and nutrition. Maybe I'm crazy, but I know how difficult it was for me to find good sources of info on these subjects, which leads me to believe others have had and are having the same problems.

SO, my original question stands. Any one interested?

Chris, I would be SO into this! I love doing all kinds of athletic things and I think this is a great idea! I want to travel the world spreading the word about organ donation and showing the success of it too! I know of a couple triathlon groups here in Michigan that support organ donation etc.

We can so do this! Let me know how I can help or whatever...

I'm on Cellcept (brand name from Roche) for SLE. Works great for joint pain, but I really can't afford the medicine. Aetna makes me pay a 1/3rd copay, and that is near $564/mo. for the therapeutic dosage (3000mg/day). No one can help, not even Roche…
