im so new to this website. and very excited to come across it tho! ive been searching for others that would understand the journey my husband and i have been traveling the last 5years w/ his Liver issues!! its hard to find others that understnad the joys, the pains, adn ups n downs etc! you know what i mean!

my husband has reached his 1 year mark as a Liver Transplant patient. his levels have stayed where they are suppose to until just this last week !!can any one tell me why all of sudden his Prograf levels have elevated to numbers that are unexplainable so fast!! His Dr's are looking into it. but just think its too weird too fast. he has been on a new med the last 10 days. not sure if its the med maybe! is this normal sometimes? common to see?

I am a kidney transplant recipient and don't know if they work the same. It has been 2.5 years since my transplant. The first couple of years things will fluctuate. My prograf meds had to be raised after about a year and a half. They are going to fluctuate. I was told that when the prograf level is high that means that you would end up having to take less meds. That should be a good thing to a certain extent. I was also told though that Prograf is not good for my kidney so the less I have the better. So look at it as maybe a good thing and that the body is accepting the Liver as its own and doesn't need to be tricked as much.... Good luck....
I'm four years post liver transplant -- make sure your eating the right stuff, no stress, lots of water!!!! ... it was two years for me that it took - now I'm down to 500 mg and doing well -- check out http://trioweb.org/index.shtml and join. Cheers.
does he do fasting bloodwork?
has he mistankingly took a double dose of meds before getting bloodwork?
Diet?
other than that if its only a 1 time event , strange things happen that are unexplainable, have they retested the bloodwork and what is the comparison form the test before this happened to the elevated bloodwork and the one after a retest?
hope this helps some
take care
Richard

Liver Transplants

This is a group for all people who have had liver transplants. Feel free to say how long you have been a recipient and what medication you are on. Some doctors hope to have their patients off all medications, any thoughts?
