NLDAC Can Help with Living Donor Expenses
DPC strives to keep our members informed about other organizations and programs that could be of assistance to the dialysis community. One such program is the National Living Donor Assistance Center (NLDAC). NLDAC provides financial assistance for living organ donors who take trips to transplant centers while being evaluated and/or undergoing living organ donation.
NLDAC can pay for three trips to the transplant center for evaluation, surgery and medical follow-up. Approved donors will receive an American Express card to cover hotel, food, airfare, mileage, parking and other incidental expenses up to $6,000 when traveling to the center. NLDAC will also pay for the travel expenses of the donor’s support person. The donor and recipient must be U.S. citizens and the recipient must meet certain income requirements to qualify.
