I am currently five years posttransplant, and I have transplant labs preformed still once a month. The frequency for me may be related to the fact that I had a multivisceral transplant in which I received six organs and that I am still much underweight although I have been working on this and have been blessed with lab results that are usually good, except for a persistantly low albumin. I have bloodwork every other week because of my low weight, and once again I think concern about this is why my transplant labs are consistantly drawn every month despite not having a major episode of rejection since my transplant. I would not mind having them drawn less, but then again, it is nice to have the reassurance of the usual results especially at those times when I do not seem to be making much progress on gaining weight. I hope this helped without boring you too much about my specific details. Best of wishes to you.
I think, as Bobiejo stated, that it is all about your individual health status concerning how often your Drs want labs drawn. I'm 5 1/2 years post liver tx and I have had labs drawn at least once a month. From what I've seen with others as long as your health is good a 3 month frequency is about right. Some have them at every 6 months but I think I'd be more comfortable at a 3 month interval, things can change very fast being immuno-suppressed. God Bless
I'm a once a monther too. I'm 2 years out and have been pretty stable so far.
I am almost 4 years post transplant and my doctor said every 4 months is fine.
I'm almost 5 yrs and my Dr.'s have told me it's okay to go every 4 mths also. My arms love it!!!. If I've been sick, I go just to make sure levels are okay and for peace of mind.
I am two years out from a living donor liver trans, I have had some complications but in the whole was once a month, but am now doing the interferon routine so every couple of weeks, but once bloods stabilize I should be back to once a month.
I am 2 years 3 months post liver transplant I still go monthly but I also have Hepatitis C :(
Are you currently on the Riboviron therapy?
I am 4 years kidney post transplant. I am doing my lab test and my local doctor in every 3-4 month. And i visit annually my transplant hospital and my dear transplant doctor's team in Coimbatore, India and do my full body checkup there. I am doing well now. God bless
Mine dr's went for two month without a whole work-up and just some blood cell results from my hematologist. But this time they are only waiting a month. I was just there at the hospital for a biopsy a little over a month ago.
I am 13 years post kidney transplant, (my brother). I have bloodwork every 2 months and I travel 100 miles to my doctor in Toronto once a year. What a relief to hit the "once a year mark"... some 7 years ago. I have truly been blessed and am so thankful for my brother and the wonderful doctors at Toronto
General. I have never (touch wood, head lol) had any rejection and am still feeling great!!
P.S. A co-worker of mine has had his kidney (sister) for 25 years now. isnt that great!!! all the best!!

Hi,

I had my labs done once every 3 months after the 3rd year, it was one year ago that my hep c returned and I now get it monthly, It was 12 years December 7th when I had my liver transplant at UK hospital in Lexington, Ky

I have had two liver biopsies this year and the hep c is not coming back as bad as it normally does, they say it usually comes back with a vengence. I wish you happy holidays and a healthier future.
